"Appraisal is going to start".. that is what is new in the air in Office. Every year you wait for this "AUSPICIOUS
NEWS". And the hush hush starts. Who's gonna promoted? Who shall be the nest Boss?What shall be the incentive rate? What shall be the increment rate
Will
I be promoted this year?? It has been three years I have been rated GOOD only,
I shall talk to Boss this time. But will he listen?? What should I say? Oh!!
there are are other performers in the team... But even I work hard. I come to
office at 9 am sharp and leave office at 8 pm. I do all that is asked to me
without asking any question. I do even all the sum and sundry work!!! yeah.....these are few of those questions
that goes in your mind during Appraisal time at Office. But then..how many of you ever
discuss these with your Boss?? And if you do so, then are you in an aggressive
mode?? or calm?? or you are shaking while discussing?? or your voice is
trembling??
ARE YOU CLEAR IN YOUR MIND??
Let
me tell you guys.. Appraisals and KRA Review is that golden chance of yours
that can help you understand your performance, you get a chance to talk to your
super Boss, so encash it. Let's see how Mr. Vicky, a hard working employee,
went inside his Boss cabin for his review, he has been preparing himself for
the past two days…
“May I come in Sir?” standing in front of his Boss’s cabin, Mr.
Vicky asked very softly to him.
“Oh yes, please come in and take a seat”, his boss called him
inside while he was busy looking at his laptop.
Slowly he walked in. Sat on the chair. Vicky was all set to start
his conversation when his Boss said “Mr.
Vicky, you are a sincere employee, a hard working employee, but you see..this
year I have to promote Ruhi and Sylvie in the team. I have to do this because
they are really outstanding performers and they are about to take up new projects.
So they have to be promoted. I am really sorry that this year also I cannot
promote you. But yes I shall work upon your rating and see that you get a good
descent increment.,”
Guys..how would have Mr. Vicky responded? Let’s see…
Situation I:
OMG!!! Once again?? Exclaimed Mr.Vicky in his mind.
He said very politely, wiping his sweat on his forehead (remember
he was sitting in an AC cabin) “I understand sir. I really thank you that you
have atleast thought about me and my increment”. And he walked away out of the
cabin, satisfied. At least he shall get the increment
Situation II:
OMG!!! Once again??not this time dude…exclaimed Mr.Vicky in his mind.
“I am sorry sir. But this
time I cannot sacrifice my promotion. I have here past 4 years. Working hard
and sincerely, coming to office everyday on time. Every year is the same thing
that I hear from you. It has been 4 years that I have got any promotion. This
time I need it or I may have to look for a change” whooo..Mr. Vicky said
all these in a single breath and gave a sigh of relief.
Situation III:
OMG!!! Once again?? Exclaimed Mr.Vicky in his mind.
He said in a firm voice “Boss I really appreciate what you are
saying. I may not be outstanding but I am a regular contributor in the
department. I never spoke to you for my promotion and increment before. But I
want to this year because I feel that I have potential to grow. A promotion
shall help me boost my confidence and shall help in performing better and
effectively”.
Either of these situations can be yours. Guys.. be clear in your vision.Have a clear mind as to what you have thought about your career and what are you expecting. Have clear dreams.Only then shall you be able to encash your appraisals and reviews or else shall be only a hard worker like Mr. Vicky. Do not let your chance go.
